Oi! You there! Me! Pish Posh here! C’mon luv, time to pay attention now, particularly you lot what’s not feeling so good about yourselves so lately, if you don’t mind me saying so. I’m gonna be giving you girls a bit of a pep talk today about the matter of lifting you’se outta your doom and gloom. I’ll be smacking your flabby bottoms every now and then to get you’s moving. Wink-wink, nudge-nudge, say no more, if you don’t mind me saying so.
Switching colloquialisms to the prim and proper English but no less friendly banter that we’re all quite comfortable with by now, I’ll start by saying that my choice of language was quite deliberate. That was to show you all that I don’t mind giving away my background. In England, they still refer to us as Cockneys. Well, sod them, I always say. And we’ll talk and live the way we bloody well want to. Right, girls?
Actually, not so fast, girls.
Part of feeling good about yourselves still means that you have to be mindful of others. In doing this, you are also taking good care of yourself, good, right and proper. Imagine walking in to work every morning, particularly if you are an office girl where formalities, to a degree, are expected and practiced, and you talk the way I do, the way you talk with your mates or even your family at home. I’m willing to bet that the worst case scenario will be that you’ll be on the list of potential candidates to be fired the next time your company goes through its usual difficulties.
The least that you can expect where poor communications and the lack of etiquette is concerned is that you’re likely to be sternly spoken to or be given terse warnings by your supervisor. Don’t let this happen to you, and girls, behave yourself every once in awhile. Save going out for the weekends. That’s the time to curl your hair and let it loose. You can stay out as long as you like without having to worry about getting up early the next morning.
You can have your beauty sleep, in other words.
By Sunday evening, it’s early to bed after you’ve given your body its weekly primer of healthy cleansing, from a good, solid relaxing bath, luxuriating in water filled with your favorite aromatic bath salts and surrounded by your favorite scented candles. Listen to some light music or white noise while you’re at it. Not only are you giving your body a good, solid and detoxifying cleansing, you’re calming your nerves too.
Not that you’ve got anything to worry about the next day at work. And nor should you be worrying. Unless you’ve been a very, very bad girl, you really have nothing to worry about. Those things that cause us to worry are usually not of our own doing. Take the good old, age-old advice and only concern yourself with the things in your life that you can control. Forget about the stuff that’s out of your hands.
And then get a good night’s rest.
Oh, and before you go to bed, why don’t you prepare your wardrobe for the week ahead of time. Also take out things that you might like to wear on the spur of the moment.
